Overview on Training and Development in HR

According to Herbert K ( 2023) The term "employee training and development" refers to a collection of initiatives and courses intended to improve staff members' competencies. It is an ongoing process with the goals of enhancing both individual and organizational performance, promoting professional development, and accommodating changing business requirements.
A more comprehensive strategy is used in development, which fosters long-term progress and gets staff members ready for bigger roles and responsibilities down the road. It consists of programs for individual employee growth as well as leadership development, coaching, and mentoring..
Teaching workers a certain task or technique is known as employee training. Usually, the goal is short-term gains—allowing workers to improve in their current roles.
According to , Rishav R.(2022) The methodical process of improving an employee's competency, knowledge, and abilities through learning and development leads to improved performance in the workplace. Learning is specifically concerned with acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Knowledge expansion and depth in accordance with personal development objectives is called development.
Learning and development is to improve or modify the behavior of individuals or groups by exchanging information and insights that help them operate more efficiently or by fostering attitudes that support improved performance.

The goal of training is to impart particular knowledge or abilities that will improve employee performance during the short term. It entails structured training programs that instruct staff members on how to carry out certain duties, use new equipment or software, or adhere to corporate regulations.

According to, Brown J (2024) Through continuous training and development, businesses assist their staff in gaining the knowledge and abilities necessary to fulfill their potential and perform at their best. Though they are frequently used synonymous, there is a distinction between development and training.

As such ,the Training and development is one of the main functions of the human resource management department and it assures  a systematic setup where employees are instructed and taught matters of technical knowledge related to their jobs.
